Even small caterpillars can have a big appetite. That is why The Very Hungry Caterpillar sets off in search of something to eat - and finds it. From Monday to Sunday, it eats its way page by page through a mountain of treats until it is finally full. Now the time has come to build a cocoon, and after two weeks of waiting, a beautiful butterfly emerges from it.
The littlest ones play with The Very Hungry Caterpillar by poking their little fingers through the punched-out holes. Slightly older children discover the days of the week, fruits, numbers, and the metamorphosis in nature with it. And everyone loves its secret message of hope, which its creator Eric Carle describes as follows: "I can grow up too. I too can spread my wings (my talents) and fly into the world."

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is captivating not least because of its colorful, collage-style illustrations and its unique format featuring partially shortened pages and punched-out, tactile holes.

With over 50 million copies sold worldwide, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of the most successful children's books in the world. This gift edition with sturdy board pages is distinguished by a particularly beautiful design with real book covers.
